Weihua Zhu Artist Statement

I examine the connection between Western and Eastern cultures through my art. With a background in Chinese calligraphy, I employ acrylic paint to integrate narratives and symbols, creating an abstract visual language on canvas. My work reflects tradition while redefining my relationship with the contemporary world. Through deliberate technique and composition, I transform words into mountain landscapes, drawing inspiration from classical Chinese ink paintings. The simplicity of my approach yields abstract forms that evoke nostalgia and prompt self-reflection. My art articulates identity and offers a poetic tribute to my heritage.
