John Frank Shortino was born in 1962, Kansas City, MO. He is the son of a master craftsman. Erector Sets and Tinkertoys got him started in making things in metal and wood.
1987, he attended St. Paul Technical, in MN, studying in automated manufacturing technology.
1992, John built his workshop at the Lake of The Ozarks. The beauty of nature has inspired him since his childhood days, influencing his sculpture in copper, steel, wood and furniture designs.
1996, was commissioned to create and build a sculpture, and fountain fabrication in steel and copper,
"Feeding Time" for a lakefront establishment.
1998, John was accepted as an apprentice and later an instructor at the acclaim Johnson Atelier Technical Institute of Sculpture in Trenton, NJ. He immersed himself in all things art. 2004, went to South Florida working as a conservation assistant for museums, galleries, public and private art sculpture collections.
Since 2010 John has been in his studio working on new bodies of work building a Sculpture Garden and Gallery
