"Cellular Level 4: Retinal Microcosm Revealed" delves into the hidden intricacies of the retinal microvasculature within a mouse's eye—a delicate and complex network that serves as the lifeblood of vision. Using hand-dyeing and surface design techniques, I transformed white fabric into a vivid representation of this microscopic world, bringing to life the intricate patterns of blood vessels that sustain and nourish the eye.

The hand-dyeing process allowed me to infuse the fabric with subtle gradients and rich, organic colors, mimicking the natural hues observed under the microscope. Surface design techniques, such as resist dyeing and fabric painting, were employed to create the fine, branching patterns of the microvasculature. The stitching serves as both a structural and visual element, tracing the pathways of the vessels and adding dimension and texture to the quilt.
