My academic background is in medical anthropology and bio-psychology, and for three decades I have been an experimental biologist working with cultured cells. Many believe that my years at the microscope have an impact on my art, seeing physiologic or cellular themes. To me, art is an escape from science and a chance to depict fantastical landscapes or supernatural dramas, and to give form to ideas, emotions and dreams—but perhaps through the lens of a biologist.
