Katie Barnes was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1979. Although she was drawn to art at a young age, she received an undergraduate degree in Fisheries and Wildlife from the University of Missouri in 2005. She went on to receive her Masters degree in Photojournalism, also at the University of Missouri. Katie received various College Photographer of the Year awards for her documentary photography work between 2006 and 2008.

Today Katie works as a ceramics artist and a wedding photographer!
