THE COMMUTER
By David Frankel
You’re really that damn busy? Look, she’s on
A tightrope, sort of – well, she’s on the ground,
But still, check out those feet, those legs, they’re strong,
She worked for that. And you can’t look around?
Can’t take a minute? C’mon, man, get a life.
She’s beautiful. She’s dancing. Notice it.
That’s all we want, is noticing. A wife,
That’s all she wants. But you’re, what,
Thinking Manchu Wok – the other guy,
The one behind the camera, he at least
Is focused on her, it’s an eye
Of sorts; a lens, an eye replaced,
A walled-off eye, an eye made a machine –
The lady’s lifted up. She should be seen.
