Watercolor Painting with Marilyn Cummins

Explore the versatile medium of watercolor in this 6-week workshop-style class. Students, from beginners in art and/or watercolor to more-experienced artists, will find a welcoming, collaborative environment. Artist Marilyn Cummins will help lay a strong foundation in techniques that can be used to create a variety of watercolor styles, with an emphasis on using values for composition and getting comfortable working wet-on-wet while painting landscapes, figures and still lifes.

Main supplies you will need (more details will be emailed to registered students in time for you to gather/order materials):

·      Watercolor paint (tubes recommended)

·      Watercolor palette 

·      At least three large round watercolor brushes in graduated sizes, other brushes as desired 

·      A pad of good 140-lb., cold-press watercolor paper made of 100% cotton; Arches is recommended. 9 in X 12 in or larger recommended but not required.

·      Sketchbook (anything you have is fine)

Communal supplies available at CAL to use during class include sketching pencils, watercolor pencils, sharpeners, erasers, rulers, boards to tape your paintings to, masking tape, art pens, paper towels, water jars, etc.
