Watercolor Painting with Lindsay Pict
This 6-week workshop covers the foundations of watercolor! Great for beginner painters or more advanced students alike, this class will focus on learning different exercises and techniques, including wet-on-wet, gradient washes, flat washes, calligraphic mark making, color mixing, working with transparency, water control, and more! We will also learn different brush types, and what to do with round, flat, or filbert brushes. Artist Lindsay Picht will help students learn how to apply these techniques and skills to a variety of projects and subjects, such as landscape, portraiture, still life, and portraits.

Main supplies you will need:
· Watercolor tubes (a limited palette is suggested: permanent rose, phthalo blue, and cadmium yellow) (a great brand to start with is Winsor and Newton paints, try to avoid Prang, Artist Loft, etc.)
· Watercolor palette or palette paper
· Three round watercolor brushes in small, medium and large sizes, one 1 inch flat brush, and one medium filbert brush (feel free to bring other brushes if you have them!)
· Arches 140-lb., cold-press watercolor paper made of 100% cotton (you can get a pad or block of paper, or cut larger sheets down to size: we will work on a 9 x 12 in. size, or larger)
· Sketchbook (any that you already have)
CAL has many communal supplies as well for us to use, including pencils, watercolor pencils, masking tape, sharpeners, erasers, pens, paper towels, water cups, etc. But feel free to bring any other supplies you find helpful to your painting practice.
Communal supplies available at CAL to use during class include sketching pencils, watercolor pencils, sharpeners, erasers, rulers, boards to tape your paintings to, masking tape, art pens, paper towels, water jars, etc.
