Beginning Pastel with Hope Martin (6 week)- Saturday, January 18- February 22 from 1-3pm

from $150.00

Saturdays 1:00-3:00pm from January 18th- February 22nd

This beginner’s course in soft pastels introduces foundational techniques, including blending, layering, value assessment, and composition. Over six sessions, you will learn how to create depth, texture, and realism through underpainting and overpainting methods. You will leave with a deeper understanding of soft pastels as well as a framed piece of art.

  • Soft Pastels (variety of colors)

  • Pastel Pencils (for detail work)

  • Paper:

    • 9” x 12” UART Sanded paper pad in beige; 400 or 600 grit

  • Blending Tools:

    • Foam or blending tools

  • Brush and Rubbing Alcohol in a small spray bottle

  • Framing Supplies:

    • 11 x 14 frame & mat with 8 x 10 opening

  • Additional Supplies:

    • Erasers

    • blade (for sharpening)

    • small tray (to hold your pastels)

    • Smartphone or camera (for value checks)
