Beware of Scams!

Important SCAM ALERT: Wallpart

Artists Info UK has been notified about pieces of artwork being stolen and supposedly "available for sale" through Wallpart.com. This is a scam. Ignore it. This Wallpart "Report Violation" link is actually a 100% phishing form. If you fill it out, no matter what you put there, you will be sending them a LOT more than you anticipated. This is actually the main purpose for the site's existence -- they completely anticipate artists being upset about their work supposedly being sold, so they developed a system to exploit those who complain.

So please -- DO NOT EVEN VISIT THIS SITE. Do not give it page views, and most absolutely DO NOT FILL OUT ANY VIOLATION FORMS, EVEN IF THE ARTWORK ON THE PAGE IS YOUR OWN. IGNORE IT.

Email art purchase scam doing the rounds

Artists, an email scam aimed at artists is making the rounds again. You may receive an email like the one below. This is a scam. Ignore it. Delete it.

"Good day to you over there, My name is Jerry Smith I'm from Rhode Island and my eyes caught this particular work (_____), i will like to have it for my new apartment this month.please let me know if the piece is available, if yes let me have the detailed price and more information about it. i will be waiting to read from you.Regards."

If you reply, you will receive this message:

"Thanks for the message,I am very happy to know that the Artwork is still available for sale. i must tell you i am very much interested in the immediate purchase and i am willing to pay the asking price .I will like to let you know that your payment will be in a Certified Cashiers Check,this will not take time at all because the payment will be sent out immediately I read back from you.You don't have to worry about shipment, my shipper will handle it. This is because i am currently out of the country on a business proposal. So get back to me with the information needed to send you the payment I:E :Full Name Standard Mailing Address Phone numbers asking price reconfirmation so that i can proceed with the payment arrangement, consider it sold get back to me with the details.will await your message."

It's a scam. Ignore it. Delete it.
